Amsterdam
Passed away
Amsterdam is the sire of many good dressage horses, such as the well-known international dressage horse Pop Art ridden by Canadian Ashley Holzer, who participated in the Olympic Games in Hong Kong.
Own performance:
Amsterdam himself is a stallion who is not only super bred, but has also performed well. In 1994 he successfully completed his performance test in Ermelo. Later he completed a good stallion competition, and participated successful at Z and ZZ level with Sjoukje van Kooten. He also was winner of the semi-finals of the AMEV/Hippo Cup and third in the final at Jumping Amsterdam.
Pedigree:
The sire of Amsterdam, Argentinus, was already a famous name when he was alive. He already has more than 30 approved sons. His descendants have already earned a total life profit of more than €4.000.000.-. Argentinus is known as an excellent jumping horse sire, he produced international jumping horses such as Arko (Nick Skelton), Autogramm (Thomas Mühlbauer), Azarro (Holger Wülschner), Anka, and A-Dur I, but he has also passed on many good dressage properties, e.g. Nissan Amaretto (Isabell Werth) and Albano (Heike Kemmer).
The sire of Amsterdam's dam, the Holsteiner Tin Rocco, was himself internationally successful as a showjumping horse (winner of the Grand Prix of Hamburg, among others) and is best known as the sire of Let's Go (first under Roelof Bril, later under Peter leone).
The grandmother of Amsterdam, Deauville II (by Barsoi xx) is the full sister of the Grand Prix dressage stallion Bartok. The dam's line goes back via the dressage blood of Derby (Duellant x Shagya XXII-2) and Fluegeladjudant to an originally Hanoverian stock.
Official KWPN Research Report:
Honest, reliable, balanced, and good stallion. He has more than sufficient willingness to work and he can be worked well. The walk is big and active. The trot is big, powerful, and with good tact. The canter is big, powerful, and well carried. He closes easy in the dressage work. Amsterdam has a lot of talent as a dressage horse and gives his rider a good feeling.
Amsterdam is more difficult to keep closed when jumping. He should basculate a bit more. He has a good leg technique and sufficient scope, but could show more impulsion. He has sufficient talent as a jumping horse and gives his rider a sufficient feeling.
Exterior description:
Long-lined riding type stallion. The neck has little upper muscle. The foundation is correct.
Stable behaviour:
He behaves normally.
