Balou du Rouet

Produced the Olympic silver medallist Baloutinue

For the fifth time in a row, Balou du Rouet is amongst the world's best show jumping and eventing sires, ranking fifteenth and eighth respectively (according to the WBFSH ranking) - perfectly evidenced by the team silver medallist at the Olympic show jumping competition in Tokyo/JPN, Baloutinue/Laura Kraut/USA, the individual bronze medallist at the European Eventing Championships in Avenches/SUI, Corouet/Sarah Bullimore/GBR, and the team gold and individual bronze medallist at the European Young Riders Eventing Championships in Vilamoura/POR, Balento C. S./Emilie Conter/BEL.

Over 70 of his offspring are successful in 1.60m show jumping competitions. This means that Balou du Rouet has long been heir to the throne of his famous father, the Olympic and three-time World Cup winner Baloubet du Rouet. Amongst his successful offspring are the individual World Championship and European Championship team bronze medallist as well as World Cup eighth-placed show jumper Bianca/Steve Guerdat/SUI and the European Championship team gold and silver medallist and individual ninth-placed eventer Billy the Red/Kristina Cook/GBR. Further guarantors of success are Saura de Fondcombe/Nadja Peter Steiner/SUI, European Championship team bronze winner, Brilliant du Rouet/Liubov Kochetova/RUS, World Championship participant, Babalou/Darragh Kenny/IRL, placed fourth in Aachen as well as Balou Rubin/Pius Schwizer/SUI, Blossom Z/McLain Ward/USA, Blue Balou/Angelos Touloupis/GRE, Balenciana K/Edouard Schmitz/SUI, Balotelli/Matthew Boddy/USA, Balou Z/Kevin Jochems/NED, Balance/Felix Haßmann, Bantou Balou OLD/Laura Klaphake, Botakara OLD and Baloubet/both Mario Stevens, who were all successful in Grand Prix competitions and Nations Cups, and Balou’s Mascot M/Pia Münker and Ben Leuwer, placed third in the German Eventing Championships and already internationally successful. The dressage horse Enying/Csaba Szokola/HUN won the bronze medal at the Hungarian Championships and took part in the European Championships in Hagen a.T.W./GER. For the athletes registered in Germany alone, the total prize money won is above 4.92 million Euros.

Baloutaire PS/Philip Rüping, Balzaci/Felix Haßmann, Baccord/Gerrit Nieberg and Balous Bellini/Lutz Gripshöver stand out in sport among the almost 70 licensed sons of Balou du Rouet. Balou du Rouet appears on the dam’s sire’s side of our OS Champion Stallion and main premium champion, Conthalou. From a breeding point of view, the premium stallion of the Holstein licensing Baloubetto, sold for 90,000 Euros, the OS Reserve Champion Mare Honey Star and the Champion Foal and Reserve Champion Colt of the Goldfever Ring at the German Foal Championships also deserve to be mentioned.

Balou du Rouet started his own career with the final score of 9.2 at the 30-day test in Vechta. After serial victories in young horse classes, he won the qualification round at the German Championships with a score of 9.2, came eighth in the final of the six-year-olds and won show jumping competitions up to 1.50m.

His dam Georgia also produced the three licensed stallions Balissimo (by Baloubet du Rouet), the German Champion Cornet’s Balou (by Cornet Obolensky), who, under his sport name Balou du Reventon/Brian Moggre/USA, was part of the winning Nations Cup team in Aachen in 2021, and took second place in the Grand Prix, and won the Grand Prix in Sopot/POL and Wellington/USA, and Chatinue (by Chacco-Blue)/Darragh Kenny/IRL. Georgia's daughter and granddaughters produced numerous international show jumping horses and the licensed stallions Chageorge (by Chacco-Blue) and Vivagran (by Vivant).

The Oldenburg dam's sire Continue is also the dam's sire of Antello Z/Cameron Hanley/IRL, who took part in the World Championships and European Championships, Baloufina/Cian O'Connor/IRL and Camilla/Denis Lynch/IRL.

His grand-dam Georgette II also produced Sandrissimo (by Sandro), licensed stallion and successful in 1.40m show jumping competitions.

The sires Domino, Gepard and Granit, who appear in the earlier generations of Balou du Rouet’s pedigree, have had a lasting influence on the mare base of Paul Schockemöhle’s stud.

The licensed stallions Daddy Cool, Le Sandro, Lord Sandro, Conthargos/Jacek Zagor/POL, Lacento and Sir Calido also descend from the Westphalian line of Filmkunde.
