There is no doubt that Joop van Uytert and his stallions have an enormously positive influence on Dutch and international dressage horse breeding. But there is no title for Stallion Owner of the Year in the Netherlands. It was Fokker of the Year, and Van Uytert, who was also a small-scale breeder himself (often together with customers), received that title today at the Central Inspection in Gelderland.

Joop van Uytert himself or in collaboration with other owners bred four KWPN-approved dressage stallions: In Style ( Eye Catcher x Lorentin I ), together with Ab Barneveld For Gribaldi ( Gribaldi x Michelangelo ), together with the late Gerrit and Anne Marie van Esterik Number Two ( Just Wimphof x Ferro ) and together with M.J.H. Gotink One Million ( Vivaldi x Apache ) and also a selection of great performing show and sport horses, such as Haute Couture (by Connaisseur), which Van Uytert bred together with Albert Drost.

Joop van Uytert was not completely surprised in Ermelo: “Renate actually managed to keep it quiet for a long time, but last night a few stallions with braided tails were in the stable and my parents-in-law had parked a truck with us with some vague excuse haha. I had already figured that I could just agree. I went here today with no expectations, but when I was called up I really liked it!”
